Inquiry-Based Essay Reflection

The audience of my paper are people who have little to no knowledge of computers. This impacts my genre; in that I must be nonfiction. I need to explain facts and steps in my essay and can’t make up stories. My language and tone must be easy for my reader to understand. I am assuming they have no knowledge of computers and thus I am making my essay as beginner friendly as possible, not using big words and explaining all the terms I use.

The thing I learned about the most while writing this inquiry-based research essay is the history of computers. Before I started this essay, I knew the general idea for building a computer and even some of the components. However, I did not know the history behind computers, how they came to be. How computers were a thought experiment many years before the first successful computer was built. There was so much I learned, but I had to compress it to the most important details. This was the main that I learned from my research for my Inquiry-Based research essay.

My drafting process for my essay was simple. I first planned out what articles and quotes I would use. I had to read through a lot of articles and pull out what I needed before I started writing. Then I planned out my essay structure. I would first start with the history of computers, then I would explain the components of a computer. I would end off my essay by explaining how to assemble the computer.
